The service

What Is Mobile Patrol Security?

Mobile patrol, also called a mobile security patrol or mobile patrolling, is a service in which a licensed guard drives between properties and visits each one at scheduled or randomized times. You pay for the visits and checks your property needs, not for a full shift at one post. On each visit, the guard inspects the site, deters unwanted activity by being seen, deals with problems and documents everything.

When mobile patrol beats a static guard

  • Your risk is mostly after hours, overnight or on weekends, when the building is closed and few people are around.
  • The property is vacant, between tenants, under construction or used seasonally.
  • You manage several properties and want one provider checking all of them.
  • You already have guards on site and need support between posts: supervision, back-up and an extra layer of response.
  • A full-time post is more coverage than your risk calls for.

A static guard is still the right choice where someone must control access all the time, such as a busy condo lobby or a gatehouse. Many properties use both: on-site security guards where people come and go, and mobile patrol, available 24/7, to fill the gaps where static coverage isn't feasible.

What a Mobile Patrol Visit Includes

Every patrol plan is built around your property. A typical visit covers these checks.

  • 01

    Exterior perimeter checks

Fences, gates, lighting, parking areas and loading docks, looking for forced entry, damage, vandalism or hazards.

  • 02

    Door and access-point checks

Confirming doors are locked and entry points are secure.

  • 03

    Interior checks, where arranged

Common areas, parking garages, mechanical rooms or vacant units, when they are part of your patrol plan.

  • 04

    Visible deterrence

A marked vehicle and a uniformed guard arriving on a scheduled or randomized pattern that's hard to predict.

  • 05

    Action on what we find

Dealing with unwanted visitors and escalating to you, your property manager or emergency services, following your instructions.

  • 06

    Emergency response

Our mobile supervisors respond to emergencies and can be sent to your property when something goes wrong.

Alarm response in Toronto

Why an On-Site Check Matters

The Toronto Police Service sends police to burglar alarm activations that are verified, for example by audio, video, multiple zone activations or an eyewitness such as private security at the scene. Panic and hold-up alarms are excluded and get a response without verification. That makes an on-site check by a patrol guard a practical part of any alarm plan.

Mobile Patrol vs Static Guard

Mobile patrol gives scheduled or randomized visits. It's best for after-hours deterrence, perimeter and lock checks, and vacant or multi-site properties. If something happens, a patrol or emergency response is sent. It's priced by the visits and duties in your patrol plan, one route can cover several properties, and visit logs and incident reports are in Kovrra. The limitation is the gap between visits.

A static (on-site) guard is there for the whole shift. It's best for access control, visitor management and constant observation, and the guard is already there when something happens. It's priced by the hour, per guard, usually with one guard per post, and shift and incident reports are in Kovrra. The limitation is higher cost when there's little to do on shift.

Not sure which you need? We'll recommend the right mix for your risk.

Pricing

How Mobile Patrol Pricing Works

We don't publish a flat rate, because two properties rarely need the same patrol. Your quote is built from:

  • Visit frequency: visits per night or week, scheduled, randomized or both.
  • Time on site: an exterior check takes less time than an interior walk-through.
  • Property size: the number of buildings, doors, gates and areas to check.
  • Duties and response: interior checks and whether emergency call-outs are included.
  • Coverage window and location: overnight, weekend and holiday hours, and where your property sits on our routes.
  • Term: contract length and reporting needs.

Because patrol time is shared across a route, a few visits a night usually cost far less than a full overnight post. You'll get a clear written quote after we understand your site.

What is mobile patrol security?

Mobile patrol security is a service in which a licensed guard in a patrol vehicle visits your property at scheduled or randomized times to check it, deter crime and respond to problems, without a guard stationed there full time.

What does a mobile patrol guard do?

On each visit, a mobile patrol guard checks the perimeter, doors, gates, lighting and parking areas, completes any interior checks in your patrol plan, deals with problems they find, and records the visit in Kovrra, the security ERP Regal uses.

How much does mobile security patrol cost?

It depends on visit frequency, time on site, property size, duties, response needs and the coverage window. Patrol usually costs far less than a full-time post because visits are shared across a route. Ask us for a written quote.

How does mobile patrol work?

We agree on a patrol plan with you covering how many visits, when, and what is checked. Our mobile supervisors follow it in marked vehicles and report each visit.

Is mobile patrol better than a static guard?

Mobile patrol is better for after-hours, intermittent or multi-site risk. A static guard is better when someone must control access continuously. Many properties use both.

What is the difference between mobile patrol and foot patrol?

A foot patrol guard walks one property for a whole shift. Mobile patrol uses a vehicle to visit one or many properties, and the guard checks doors, gates and agreed areas on foot at each stop.

Do mobile patrol guards need a licence in Ontario and BC?

Yes. Ontario's Private Security and Investigative Services Act treats anyone paid primarily to guard or patrol as a security guard who must be licensed, and the agency selling the service needs its own licence. BC's Security Services Act requires both a security worker licence and a security business licence.

Will Toronto police respond to my alarm?

For burglar alarms, the Toronto Police Service sends police once an alarm is verified, for example by audio, video, multiple zone activations or an eyewitness such as private security at the scene. Panic alarms are excluded. An on-site check by a patrol guard can be part of your alarm plan.
